Notice of Environment Act Proposal

Manitoba Conservation and Climate has received a proposal pursuant to The Environment Act regarding the following operation and invites public participation in the review process:

TOWN OF VIRDEN – WATER SYSTEM UPGRADES – FILE: 6094.00

An Environment Act Proposal has been filed by the Manitoba Water Services Board on behalf of the Town of Virden for the construction and operation of a water system upgrade. The project would involve two new water supply wells in SE 5-11-25W, located approximately 1.5 km north of the Town’s existing wells, a pipeline connection to the pipeline at the existing wells, upgrades within the existing water treatment plant, and the re-direction of greensand filtration backwash water and reverse osmosis concentrate. The backwash water would be discharged to the Town’s wastewater collection system, and the concentrate would be discharged to Gopher Creek using the existing discharge pipeline.

Le ministère de la Conservation et du Climat du Manitoba a reçu un projet en vertu de la Loi sur l’environnement relativement à l’activité suivante et invite le public à participer au processus d’examen :

VILLE DE VIRDEN – AMÉLIORATION DU SYSTÈME D’APPROVISIONNEMENT EN EAU – DOSSIER : 6094.00

La Commission des services d’approvisionnement en eau du Manitoba a déposé, au nom de la ville de Virden, un projet en vertu de la Loi sur l’environnement visant la construction et l’exploitation d’un système amélioré d’alimentation en eau. Le projet comprend deux nouveaux puits d’approvisionnement en eau à l’emplacement S.-E. 5-11-25O., situés à environ 1,5 km au nord des puits existants de la ville, un raccordement à la canalisation des puits existants, des améliorations dans la station de traitement d’eau existante, et le réacheminement de l’eau de lavage à contre-courant de la filtration sur sable vert ainsi que du concentré d’osmose inverse. L’eau de lavage à contre-courant serait déversée dans le système de collecte des eaux usées de la ville, et le concentré serait déversé dans le ruisseau Gopher en utilisant la conduite de décharge existante.
