Notice of Environment Act Proposal

Manitoba Sustainable Development has received a proposal pursuant to The Environment Act regarding the following operation and invites public participation in the review process:

MANITOBA HYDRO – GRAND RAPIDS FISH HATCHERY UPGRADE AND EXPANSION – FILE: 6012.00

A proposal has been filed by Manitoba Hydro for the upgrading and expansion of the Grand Rapids Fish Hatchery, located at 3 McKay Avenue in Grand Rapids. The project involves infrastructure upgrades and improved biosecurity protocols, including the replacement of outdated water supply and treatment equipment and the installation of wastewater treatment equipment, along with other mechanical and electrical upgrades. New rearing equipment in the main hatchery building would expand the facility’s production capacity for lake sturgeon. Walleye hatching would be shifted to equipment to be installed in the present service garage. Treated wastewater from the operation would be discharged to the Saskatchewan River. Construction is proposed to begin in the fall of 2019, with completion by the fall of 2021. The hatchery is proposed to remain in operation in a modified manner during the construction period.

Notice of Environment Act Proposal

Manitoba Sustainable Development has received a proposal pursuant to The Environment Act regarding the following operation and invites public participation in the review process:

MANITOBA INFRASTRUCTURE – LAKE ST. MARTIN ACCESS ROAD – FILE: 6014.00

An Environment Act Proposal has been filed by Manitoba Infrastructure for the construction of a 19.5 km all season two lane gravel access road on the east side of Lake St. Martin from the north end of the Idylwild Road to the existing Lake St. Martin Emergency Outlet Channel. The road would be gated at the south end to prevent access, and used by authorized staff to access the Emergency Outlet Channel for maintenance and operation. It would also be used in the construction, maintenance and operation of the proposed future Lake St. Martin Outlet Channel. The access road would follow the alignment of an existing winter road. Most of the construction activity for the road would be completed under frozen conditions, beginning in the winter of 2019-2020 with a planned completion date of August, 2021.

RURAL MUNICIPALITY OF SPRINGFIELD

Notice of Environment Act Proposal

Manitoba Sustainable Development has received a proposal pursuant to The Environment Act regarding the following operation and invites public participation in the review process:

RURAL MUNICIPALITY OF SPRINGFIELD – SUPPLEMENTAL MUNICIPAL GROUNDWATER SUPPLY: FILE: 6013.00

A proposal has been filed by the Rural Municipality of Springfield for a supplemental municipal groundwater supply system to meet municipal water supply needs in Oakbank and Dugald. The project involves the installation of two wells in the Winnipeg Formation Sandstone Aquifer on the south side of SW 32-10-6E, approximately four miles east of Dugald and one mile south, with a pipeline connecting the wells to the existing water supply system in Dugald. The existing water supply system using water from wells northwest of Oakbank will continue in operation.
