Notice of Environment Act Proposal

Manitoba Conservation and Climate has received a proposal pursuant to The Environment Act regarding the following operation and invites public participation in the review process:

WAR LAKE FIRST NATION – WASTEWATER TREATMENT LAGOON SYSTEM – FILE: 6104.00

An Environment Act Proposal has been filed by War Lake First Nation for the construction and operation of an aerated wastewater treatment lagoon system to be located within NW 36-81-12 WPM and to serve War Lake First Nation and the Community of Ilford, Manitoba which are located approximately 64 kilometers southwest of Gillam. The proposed wastewater treatment system will be comprised of two aerated wastewater treatment lagoon cells, a two-cell Submerged Attached Growth Reactor, and associated components. Treated wastewater will be discharged continuously to a natural wetland area adjacent to the Butnau River via an existing outfall pipeline. An existing sequencing batch reactor wastewater treatment plant near the site will be decommissioned.

Information submitted in response to this proposal is considered public information and will be made available to the proponent and placed on the public registry established in accordance with Section 17 of The Environment Act.
